Hot Stone Therapy

Hot Stone Therapy is a very relaxing treatment that can release tension, ease chronic pain, and melt away stress. Partnering massage with the use of hot and/or cold stones can intensify the result of a session and allow a more healing and balanced end result.

During a session, the stones of varying sizes and weights are heated and oiled, then placed on the body at certain points. The stones are also used in conjunction with a massage for a more systemic effect. The penetrating heat of the stones immediately soothes the nervous system, calms the mind, and relaxes the body. Muscles tend to relax quickly and easily and full body circulation is improved.

Hot Stone Therapy can be especially helpful for people who have a hard time relaxing, have chronic tension, fibromyalgia, arthritis, sinus pain/pressure, premenstrual syndrome, and certain injuries (not acute). This type of therapy can also be used to flush out toxins and aid in healing sore muscles.

People who are pregnant or who have high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease or any other issue that requires caution with heat such as saunas or hot tubs must use caution with Hot Stone Therapy and be sure to let the practitioner know of these conditions before starting a treatment.
